Raloxifene is a selective modulator of second-generation estrogen receptors. It is similar in effect to tamoxifen. The main difference between the two drugs is the selection of the tissues in which they act. Raloxifene has a strong anti-estrogen effect in breast and uterine tissue, and an estrogen effect in bone tissue. This gives it the property of giving density to the bones. Nolvadex (tamoxifen) has antiestrogenic effect in both breast and bone tissue.
Athletes use it to combat the negative effects of steroids that are flavored. Of these negative effects, the main one is gynecomastia, where raloxifene appears to be more effective than tamoxifen. And this is a fact not an assumption, being demonstrated in a study conducted in 2004. Being so powerful raloxifene could provide an alternative for surgery in severe cases of gynecomastia.
It also has a beneficial effect on testosterone secretion. Inhibition of estrogen effects also has some undesirable aspects, estrogen stimulating IGF-1 secretion. This is why antiestrogens should only be used if needed, as they can negatively affect muscle mass accumulation during a steroid cycle. It is most often found in tablets of 60 mg.
The most common side effects associated with the use of raloxifene are: heavy sweating, headaches, sweating, vomiting, indigestion and diarrhea. Rare effects are chest pain and inflammation of the veins. In extremely rare cases it has caused stroke, ulcer and gastrointestinal bleeding.
The doses administered by steroid users are between 30 and 60 mg daily. It can be found in almost any pharmacy, the main disadvantage being the higher price compared to the classic antiestrogens used by athletes, Nolvadex and Clomid.
