Anastrozol is a flavoring inhibitor, not an anti-estrogen, as many believe. The difference is that Arimidex does not allow estrogen to form in the body, whereas antiestrogens inhibit the action of estrogen, but it does not prevent its occurrence.

Anastrozole is a very powerful anti-estrogen that officially belongs to a class of drugs called aromatizing inhibitors. It was introduced on the market in 1995 under the name of Arimidex. Anastrozole works by blocking the enzyme responsible for the conversion of testosterone into estrogen, the enzyme called aromatase. When we say that a steroid is flavored, more precisely it is altered by this enzyme, which leads to the accumulation of estrogens in the body with side effects such as water retention, fattening and most serious gynecomastia.
